Why Use An Aftermarket ECU?

The OEM ECU on the KLX230 is locked by Kawasaki, meaning that it cannot be remapped without dealership equipment. This is an issue because the factory air-fuel settings are extremely lean. Although it is possible to upgrade to an open exhaust without remapping, additional modifications such as a velocity stack will result in the engine running too lean without an ECU remap.

For an easy performance upgrade without opening your engine, we recommend the following combination of modifications: full system exhaust (stainless, or lightweight titanium) + velocity stack + pair valve delete + manual idle screw + aftermarket ECU.
